Taylor’s Birthday
Posted on August 27, 2008 | Filed Under Family
Wow, I have an 8 yr old. I gotta tell ya, it’s amazing what God has already taught be through her in these 8 fast years. It’s true: Taylor turned 8 years old today. The sad part is that I’m not there. I had a chance to get away and study and plan for a couple of days and this is one of them. I’m sure that will cost me some ice cream when I get home. Now, about Taylor. She is tall for an 8 year old and we have great plans of her being on the USA Women’s Volleyball Team, after a few years of being the star at Texas A&M. I hope my goals aren’t too specific… Anyway, she is a beautiful young lady with a heart of gold. She loves people and loves to help others when she gets a chance. She makes friends very easily and has tons of them. She does a great job in school, even though she doesn’t always love to go. She is very smart and funny. That’s good because her Dad’s just funny, and only sometimes that.
The best thing about Taylor is that she has already given her heart over to Jesus Christ and tries to live for Him everyday. There is nothing, not even the Olympics, that will ever make me more proud of her than that. Her sister Jordan has also given her life to Jesus, but it’s not her birthday. She’ll get her own blog later.
So, for Taylor, if you’re reading this just know that Daddy loves you like crazy and he could not be more proud of who you are and what you’re becoming everyday. I hope you’ve had the happiest birthday ever in the world and I’m looking so forward to getting home to see you tomorrow. Now, be nice to Mommy and go to bed on time. HAHA!!
I love you Taylor. You make a Daddy proud!

Sunday Night Update
Posted on August 24, 2008 | Filed Under Sunday Night Updates
Again, WOW, what a day. We had over 1000 people at West Rome this morning. We had a challenge this morning to be families that will say, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” We had 100’s of people at the alter committing to live, and raise their families, according to God’s plan instead of ours. I was so fired up to see all those people. I really do believe that God is healing marriages right before our eyes. I am so excited to see all that He has planned for the future of our families. It is just going to be amazing to see it all come together. Thanks West Rome family for stepping up and committing to move your family to the next level.
Then, we called Chris Lodge, and his wife Paige, to come on staff with us as our Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Small Groups. He shared his testimony, which is awesome by the way, and then we voted on them. We had our first unanimous vote!!!! Woo-hoo!!! God is bringing our church body together is some amazing ways. He has used the vision He gave us to unify our hearts and help us focus on His goals instead of our own. Man, that pumps me up. Chris and Paige will be with us the week of September 1st and his first official Sunday will be September 7th. He is going to be a HUGE blessing to our staff and to our Small Groups ministry. Our groups have been waiting on him. And, so has our last Small Groups guy, which was me! It’s gonna be awesome having them on board.
Then, tonight was just incredible at XL. The band just rocked our faces off. The crowd was good and everyone was excited about getting out there and selling those raffle tickets to give the bike away next Sunday. That will be a huge time. Also, I really had a blast with the message tonight. I don’t really know if everyone else enjoyed it, but I had a great time. I really do believe we’re gonna sell the tickets we need and we’re gonna see God do some huge things this Sunday. I’m so looking forward to what He has planned. Keep up the great work guys, and see those tickets like crazy!!!
It’s been a great day. Praise God for all that HE has done!!!!!

Party Update
Posted on August 24, 2008 | Filed Under Family, Pointless Rambling, Uncategorized
Before I do the Sunday night report, I have to start with the birthday party update. I will say this right from the beginning, we will never be doing that again! Not that we don’t love all the children, we just don’t need ALL the children staying over at one time. I knew we were going to have a problem when I was in the garage digging through the trash for one girls glasses. Wow, what a beautiful thing that was. But, when you put 10 3rd grade girls together for about 12 hours, you know they can’t all get along. You can’t put 2 girls together for that long and have them get along, much less 10. So, all in all, the house is sill in one piece. although my recliner may have a little trouble, and everyone seems to have made it out alive. I’m just saying, if you want to have a sleepover party, limit it to about two friends. Not ALL of the friends.
One of my favorite conversations of the night went like this:
Christina Floyd: Mr. Jarrod, I’m hot.
Jarrod: Ok, what do you want me to do?
Christina: Well, make it colder.
You gotta love’em!
But, Taylor had fun and that’s all that matters really, right? There ya go.

A Cheetah Girls Birthday Party
Posted on August 22, 2008 | Filed Under Family, Pointless Rambling
Well, here we go. I’m sure I’ll need to be posting some interesting happenings on the blog tomorrow, but tonight is the big night. Taylor is turing 8 years old next week and tonight is the big time “sleepover” birthday party. I’m pretty sure Tiffany has been running around like crazy trying to get ready for this big blow out. I don’t know how many loud, energetic, wild and crazy, little girls there will be at my house tonight. But I know that’s too many! Any of you guys out there doing any “manly” stuff tonight? I might need to come over for a while.
So, for Taylor, she’s awesome and I’ll be blogging about her on her actual birthday next week. But, for tonight, I’ll keep the camera ready for any opportunity to make some cash. You have fun tonight, wherever you are. You know I will!!!

SHUT UP!!!! Sunday Night Report
Posted on August 10, 2008 | Filed Under Sunday Night Updates
What a stinkin’ day?!!!! We had an awesome day at West Rome and XL. God just showed up all over the place. We had tons of people there this morning. The spirit of worship was just fantastic. Today was the second week of our series on “The American Family”. It was a pretty challenging message this morning. I believe that God is going to restore some marriages in the near future. I am very fired up about that.
Then, this afternoon was the XL motorcycle ride. We had 51 bikes show up and sold a good number of raffle tickets. We are raising money for “XL Gives Back” when we remodel a home for a needy family this fall. It was a super day and we got to meet a lot of people that had never been to XL before. Then, Big Daddy brought the message tonight. He made the Gospel about as clear as possible. Also, the band just rocked like crazy. The ride team and set design teams just went above and beyond in every area. This was a great event and Gina even says we might be able to do it again. I’m pretty sure Nick has already got that planned. Also, a huge thanks to the Freedom Seekers for helping us block traffic during the ride.
God just continues to blow our minds. I’m just glad I get to be any part of it.
