God made a “war” for me

Posted on March 25, 2007 | Filed Under XL

Well, I don’t know if you were at XL tonight, but the band did a great song called “Salvation is Here”.  If you look at the lyrics, you’ll see that at one point it says, “God made a way for me”.  However, our slide said “God made a ‘war’ for me.”  I think it would have all been ok if Cliff hadn’t been laughing so hard that he had to leave the room.  It does change the meaning of the song quiet a bit.  Other than that, we had a great night.  I gotta say, James did an awesome job.  He gave us some great insight on how to handle life when it seems like everything is out of control.  The key is to trust God!  I’m thinking this is some pretty awesome advice.

So, thanks for being there tonight, and thanks for checking out the new blog.  Hopefully this will be a great spot for you to stay up to date on all the XL news, and probably a lot of other stuff that is not nearly as interesting to you.

Have a great week.

Welcome XL Blog Readers

Hello Everyone, and welcome to Jarrod’s blog.  So, here’s the real deal.  I am going to use this site to make sure you can do a couple of things.  One, I want you to be able to hear the XL story as it grows.  I really believe God is going to do some amazing things in our lives as we are a part of XL.  He is going to connect to His people, and I don’t want you to miss any of the stories as they happen.  Each week you’ll be able to read about something that God is doing as it relates to XL.

Also, I want you to have all the latest information about XL.  I will be pushing the new series and telling you what is coming up this weekend.  I think XL is pretty awesome and I don’t want you to miss any of it.  Just like our XL website, this is where you’ll be able to find the latest info. about what is coming up.

So, comment if you want, just read, or whatever.  Just know that if you come here, you’ll probably hear some pretty crazy stuff.  Trust me!

Gone Fishin’

Ok, we’ll just say that the Sweet Sixteen seems to be all my Aggies had in them this year, but we move on.  Now, for the real crazyness.  My parents came to town this week and Tiffany and I got the opportunity to go to the lake with them for a couple of days.  And, here’s the coolest part, I got to take the girls fishing for the first time ever.  At first they were scared of everything, especially the minnows.  Anyway, throughout the couple of days that we were there, they really came around and had a blast.  Taylor caught about 6 fish and Jordan pretty much counted everything that I caught as hers.  One thing I did learn, as a Dad, is that there is no better gift you can give your children, or your wife, than spending time with them.  It was a blast, and I’m pretty sure we’ll be fishing forever.

The Sweet Sixteen

Ok, since I know that I’m the only one reading my own blog right now, I’ll just write a little something for me.  First of all, I am FIRED UP that the Texas Aggies are in the Sweet Sixteen.  You know, A&M is not really known for being a basketball school, so this is pretty huge for me.  Of course, I’m a homer so I picked them to win the whole thing.

Second, and even more important that that:  I learned something tonight through Steven Furtick’s blog.  He reminded me that, if I’m going to be the Leader of XL, I had better know that I have gotten my vision from God.  And, I better hang on to that vision with my life.  He said, if people aren’t following your vision, you may not have a vision worth following.  That was what I needed to hear.  God is teaching me new stuff all the time.  I’m just glad to be a part of it.

Here We Go!

Well, I’m finally entering the blogging world.  Most of our time here will be spent discussing XL and all that God is doing out there.  However, I’m sure I’ll be sharing some crazy stories about the family along the way.  I really hope this becomes a great way to communicate about XL so that I can continuously tell the story of how people are being connected to the God that created them.  So, let’s go for it, and just see what happens.
