We are still in the Man Series and this weeks theme is “I am Not a Role Model”. I am fired up about the message that God has given me for this week. I encourage you to get every man you know to come with you this week. Seriously, every man could learn something this week, no matter what their history is about. Please, I’m begging you: bring everyone you know. God is going to do some crazy things this week. Bring’em all!!!

Tech Team Time
Posted on April 28, 2007 | Filed Under XL Volunteers
As I look at all of the volunteers that we have at XL, one of the teams that stays in the background almost all of the time is the Tech Team. The team is made up of some great guys that are willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything in the service runs as smoothly as possible. First, you have Ryan Cleary, of ClearSpan Communications. Ryan is not actually in the booth each week right now, but you have to recognize that, without Ryan’s help, we would not be where we are today. Ryan and his Dad, Ben, were in the building working like crazy before any of us. He has worked many hours at some random times to put our sound and video system together. He has definitely put it out for the ministry and it is much appreciated.
Then you have the guys running the lights. Shaun Aycock does a great job of leading out in this area. He has Zack Huston working with him on a regular basis and they do a great job of making sure everyone can enjoy the service. Trust me, it takes a lot of work with lights to make me look good on stage.
Then there’s Craig Bagwell. Craig has recently become famous for making the leg lamp for the man lounge. In the booth he runs the computer and everything that we see on the screens. He has recruted his brother Jonathan, who then recruted his friend, Matthew, and they all work together to do a super job back there. Jonathan did almost give his life in setting up the stage one day, so we’re thankful that he’s still with us.
Along with these guys you have Neil Conn, who runs the video camera and Tim Raley, who edits/shoots video, and also tells us when our packages come in at UPS, but that’s for a different blog. Anyway, you also have Tony Walker, Andy Allen and Kyle Smith that help in a variety of ways. Our newest addition is Brian Pelfrey and, boy, if he only knew what all is coming his way.
I just want to say a HUGE thank you to each of these guys. Like I said, the always go above and beyond to make for a great service. God really blessed us with so many willing, and qualified, volunteers. Thanks God!

Well, I finally had my first Diet Coke Plus. They’re gonna have to add a lot more than vitamins to get me to drink that. Not a fan!

Overdue Bragging
Posted on April 25, 2007 | Filed Under XL Volunteers
It’s been too long since I spent some time bragging on the best volunteers in the world. So, I’ll just start with the first people you see and go from there. We have a great team of guys that make up our Parking Lot Team. Brent Poplin heads up our team of volunteers and they are awesome!! And, since we park in the back of our building instead of the front, like most normal places in the world, we REALLY need them every week. The team is made up of Brett Winslette, Chris Brumenschenkel, Matt Burnham, John-Mark Miller, David Newman, Shaun Odom, Kris Pyle, Austin Seckinger, Chad Whitefield, Scott Wood, Emanuel Woods, Stephen Martin, and Russell Reid. Man what a great group of guys. You know what fires me up the most. Way more than half of the men in America today wouldn’t step foot in a church on Sunday, and we have this many pumped up about working the parking lot. Boy, God has really blessed us here. A HUGE thanks to you, work in the parking lot even when it’s raining guys. You deserve it!!!

Sunday Night Ramblings
Posted on April 22, 2007 | Filed Under Sunday Night Updates, XL
Man, I am tired and God is still so good! It has been a pretty crazy week around here, but tonight was awesome. This was the second week in the Man Series and it was a great night. We had a great night, picking the men for the man lounge and introducing the new “leg lamp”. That was way impressive. Craig and Mandy worked hard to make it happen. We were planning to give it away but I think Mandy really wants it for her house.
Anyway, God taught us some great stuff tonight. First of all, men do need to have time to go and do the things that men do. However, it is also important that they invite God to be a part of that time. We must take time, as men and women, to spend time digging into God’s Word so that we can know what He expects from us. Then, we have to decide what we are going to do with that information. What we must do is make sure we are being the people that God built us to be. If we do that, He will be glorified, and then we are doing what we need to do.
A huge thanks to all of our volunteers that made tonight work so well. God has really blessed us with each of you. Thanks a ton, and have a great week.
I’m going to bed!!!
