Sunday Night from the Recliner

WHAT A DAY!!!! Tonight at XL was great. We’re doing a study of the armor of God out of Ephesians 6:10-18. In order for us to defeat the enemy that is seriously against us, we must be prepared. There are two things that means: One, we must have on the right gear; two, we must use the right strategies. Tonight, we talked about the gear. We talked about each piece of the armor and how it related to our spiritual life. Each piece is crucial to our ability to fight the battle that comes with following Christ, and be the person God has created us to be. It’s pretty awesome to know that God knew we would be in a battle so he prepared us before we ever got here. Man, that’s cool.
For news from earlier in the day, our Pastor at West Rome resigned this morning. He has been called to Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview, Texas. He will be preaching one more time at West Rome and then moving during the week of the 23rd. I know God has a great plan for him, and for us. He is one of my best friends and I am going to miss being able to work with him. However, like I said, I know God knows what is happening and what the future holds. We’ll keep praying for him and his family, and looking forward to what God has in store for the future.
One thing I do know: I just thought my life was busy before now. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be quiet the freak show from now on. I’ts crazy, but I’m looking forward to the opportunities that will come through this time.Â
Just keep praying for us, and we’ll keep trusting God for the future.

Say NO to Hell
Posted on July 14, 2007 | Filed Under Pointless Rambling, XL
So, my air conditioner went out today. I am sitting in my recliner sweating like a pig at a luau. I think it is about 1000 degrees in here. And, here’s the best part. My friend, Tom Pilcher, came over tonight to check it out for me. Wouldn’t you know, it started working about 10 minutes before he got here and stopped working about 20 minutes after he left. I just might die at any moment.Â
As I was sitting here thinking about that fact that my home is slowly becoming an example of the “heat of hell”, I thought about how bad it will be for people that go there. Do you know that people that don’t have a relationship with Christ could die and spend eternity separated from the God that created them. Now, that’s worse than my house being hot. Make sure you find your friends and let them know about Jesus. If you don’t want to talk to them about Him, bring to XL. We’ll tell ‘em. We’ve got to. It’s just to hot not to.
Keep it cool,

Perry Noble’s “Buttpaste” Blog
Posted on July 12, 2007 | Filed Under Pointless Rambling
Yes, that’s what it says. You must go check this out. The “Buttpaste Blog” is getting quiet the attention. I had three emails last night during a meeting that I was having, and all of them were telling me to go see this blog. The funny part is, he actually did this post before, but for some reason it’s coming on strong again. Perry is very creative with the stuff he posts on his blog, but this has got to be one of the best ever. My favorite part is that I have an eight month old at home and we have a tube of the original “Boudreaux’s Buttpaste”. Boy, do I know some people that need it…

Sunday night from the recliner
Posted on July 8, 2007 | Filed Under XL
WOW, what a day. I got the opportunity to speak at West Rome this morning and then we started a new series at XL tonight. It has been an awesome day and a tiring day at the same time. God really showed up this morning. It was great to see people being able to deal with some things that they’ve not dealt with in a long time. Then, tonight we had a great time at XL. We started a series called “Gear Up” and it’s all about being prepared to fight the battles that come with trying to follow Christ everyday. The first night was all about understanding that there is an enemy out there that is trying to keep us from being all that God wants us to be. I think a lot of people in the world believe in God but don’t really understand who the devil is and what he has planned for them. I’m looking forward to seeing all that God teaches us throughout the next four weeks.Â
I did remind everyone tonight that it is always our job to be bringing people with us to XL. So, come see us next week and bring a friend.Â
I hope you all have a great week.

It’s hard to tell an 8 month old that 6:45 am on a Saturday morning is NOT wake up time!
