God’s Plan

God has plans for your future that He chooses not to tell you about. Just thought you might need a reminder today. Obviously, I did!

Taylor’s Big Day
Posted on August 26, 2007 | Filed Under Family
Tomorrow is Taylor’s 7th Birthday. I cannot imagine having a seven year old, but it’s happening. I have to tell you some of the amazing things about my daughter.
-She has a heart of gold. Taylor really does love people and she looks for ways to help others.
-She is a servant. Sure, she has her moments like the rest of us. However, Taylor is always willing to help when needed.
-She loves and cares about her sisters. She’s tries to take care of them as much as they will let her.
-She has a very tender heart. I know that this means that over the years, she will probably get her feelings heart alot, because she is going to allow people in. However, I think this is something God is really gonna use over time to help her minister to others.
We actually had her party on Friday night. We had a sleepover for 8 first graders. Let’s count the bad ideas: that’s one! Anyway, tomorrow night we’re having Gina over and having dinner. I’m looking forward to getting to spend her special day with her.
She’s awesome and I thank God for her everyday.

Sunday Night Update from the Recliner
Posted on August 26, 2007 | Filed Under Sunday Night Updates
WOW, I’m tired. I have so got to start going to bed earlier.
Tonight was awesome at XL. The tech crew worked like crazy to get the set design together. (I think we may have to start providing marriage counseling if they stay up there too many more nights.) Anyway, we had the world biggest lap top on our stage tonight. Along with that, we had a huge cell phone and an enourmous iPod. We started our series dealing with technology called “SPAM: It’s Not Just for Dinner Anymore”. By the way, has anyone had SPAM lately. It was cool because Cliff sang wearing a SPAM hat that Pam got many years ago. The band did a great job like always, and the crowd was great.
Our message was about all of the things that we take in everyday. With cell phones, laptops, etc, we are constantly taking in information. We talked about Daniel and God taught us that what we allow into our lives DOES make a difference in how we are able to live for Him.
We’re looking forward to the next two weeks of this series. God is really doing some cool things in our lives out there. If you’ve never been, you need to come see us. Heck, just to get a free drink or someting.
We’ll see you Sunday. Have a great week.

Sunday Night from the Recliner
Posted on August 19, 2007 | Filed Under Sunday Night Updates, XL
WOW!!!! What a day. We started this morning at West Rome when God showed up like crazy. Then, we voted unanimously to bring Todd and Traci Quintard on staff to lead our Youth Ministry. I am so fired up because that’s one job I no longer have to do myself. Now THAT’S good news.
THEN, we had our 1 year celebration tonight for XL. We are now officially one year old. I’m sure that’s amazing to some of those people that didn’t think we would make it a month. Jason Alford made an incredible video of all of the things that have happened over the year at XL. It was super cool to be able to look back for a minute and see all the things God has done. Just watching the car come through the door on the night we started the Pimp My Ride series was awesome. Then, watching the unveiling of the “pimped” car, WOW!!! God really did that. Then, to think about the 9 people that have been saved and baptized out there this year. That part really fires me us.
But, one of the best parts of the celebration has got to be the band. It was the first time I’ve ever seen a crowd in a “church” screaming for an encore. The band finished “Crazy Train” and the night was supposed to be over. However, when the lights came up, the whole crowd just sat there. Then they started calling for the band to do one more. The band completely ROCKED the entire night.
Now, for the coolest part. We had 394 people there tonight. That is, by far, our biggest crowd yet. And, we had a number of first timers with us tonight. I think they’ll be back.
Random Thoughts:
God really is bigger than I can ever imagine.
When you’re finishing a service at West Rome, and your 6 year old daughter comes down front just to hug you, people will cry.
We REALLY had 394 people at XL tonight. Again, WOW!!!
My wife is the coolest!
Our Tech Team has got to be the best group of guys in the world.
Gina got on stage tonight for the first time. She said it would also be her last.
We still have chips left over from the Taco in a Bag day.
Did I say the BAND ROCKED?
I’m going to bed. Peace.

Sunday Night Report from the Office
Posted on August 13, 2007 | Filed Under Sunday Night Updates, XL
Boy, do I wish my recliner was in my office. Anyway, we had a great night at XL last night. I know I talk about it too much, but this band is just amazing. They come together every week and pull off some crazy stuff.
We are also seeing more and more people all the time want to become a part of the team out at XL. This is so cool. We have people on our volunteer team that, just a year ago, would not have gone to a church for anything. I think that is awesome. Only God can make those kinds of changes.
We also had a great number of first time guests with us last night. People are excited about bringing their friends to a place where they know they will be comfortable, and will hear a message of the Gospel in a way that is relavant to their life. That is exactly what XL was meant to be.
Thanks to everyone that worked so hard for the Transformer Series. It took a lot of work to make that set happen, but they pulled it off. Thanks a ton.
NEXT WEEK: WOW!!! XL is a year old next Sunday. Please come hang out with us as we celebrate of year of exciting stuff that God has been doing. We’ll see you then.
