More Updates, More Often

My friend, Josh, from the Church at Northside here in town, mentioned to me today that I needed to post more often so he could keep up with what’s happening at XL. I told him that I was a little tired on Sunday nights but I would begin posting more often for his benefit.

As you know, Mickey has mentioned this same thought to me before. However, I didn’t really change anything for him. Interesting…

Sunday Night from the Recliner

Man, what a day. Now I’m sitting here watching football. It probably won’t end up happening, but the Eagles are beating the Patriots right now. That would be a great thing for me.
God just continues to do great things in the ministry here. We had an incredible time at West Rome this morning. It was just a great time of meeting with God and He REALLY did His part and showed up. It was really cool. We also had a young person give her life to Jesus this morning. You can’t go wrong there. That always makes for a good day.

Then, tonight at XL was great. We had a great time taling about the love that God offers us. We really love to get all hung up with things of the world that God clearly says we don’t have to worry about. The really good news is that we don’t have to try to earn His love for us. He gives it to us for FREE!!! We had a great group there tonight and I’m still pretty fired up about it.

NEXT WEEK::: Do not miss this. Next week is the final week of the Free Lunch Series. We will be GIVING AWAY a 1969 VW Bug. Every person in the door, that is 18 or over and has a drivers license will get a chance to win. Make sure you’re there and bring everyone you can with you. It will be an amazing night.

Have a great week!!! We’ll see you next time.

Finally, an Update!

It’s pretty crazy that we had the kind of weekend that we did and it still took 4 days for me to write an update about it. This past Sunday we had a Baptism Celebration at XL. It was awesome!! We had 7 people baptized up front, then we had one young lady get baptized that wasn’t even in our plan, then we baptized Terry who was driving in from Atlanta during the whole service. Everyone waited on him and it ended up being an indredible night. PLUS, it was only made more special with the fact that we baptized 9 people that morning at West Rome Baptist. That’s 18 people that day that stepped up and told the world that they had given their life to Jesus. AND, the fact that one of those was my 7 yr old daughter just takes it all up about 100 notches. I’ll have to post about that later.

Anyway, God is really moving and teaching us new things all the time. We’re just looking forward to seeing what He has planned next.

Our next baptism service will probably be at the Superbowl Party in Feb. I’m already fired up about it!!!

Stolen Quote

I stole this quote from Steven Furtick. “A focus on self-preservation is the greatest limitation on the momentum of a movement.” You can read the rest of his post here. This guy rocks!!
