Sunday Night Update

Posted on July 27, 2008 | Filed Under Sunday Night Updates

It was a great day today. I am excited to see how many new people we have coming to check out West Rome and XL each Sunday. AND, we really are becoming a place that everyone is welcome. That fires me up!! We want to be all about helping EVERYONE connect with God and have a personal relationship with Him. That is what it’s all about.

So, tonight we had a great time. I had to ride in on Taylor’s motorcycle. How awesome was that?!!!! We had over 200 people there in all and it was a great night.

West Rome was awesome this morning too. God is showing up like crazy and worship is fantastic every week.

I am so blessed to be doing what Im doing. God is really cool.

Motorcycle License

Wow!!! I finally went to the license office today to take the riding part of the motorcycle test. The scary part is that I passed. I would be careful with those riders out there. Some of them might not be able to ride so well. I’m just sayin… I will say that I think I just BARELY passed the test and probably just because the lady doing the test was so nice. When you hear things like, “I trust that you’ll get better at that over time” and “you have one more test and you don’t have many points to play with” you know you experiences the grace factor!! And, trust me, I’m ALL about the grace factor.

Anyway, most of my friends and family are probably really worried about this news because they believe that, if I did get a motorcycle, I’d be dead within a week. All I know is that would be one FAST week, that’s all I’m sayin.

Anway, I don’t have a motorcycle, and really don’t have the money to go buy one, but I have always wanted to get the license and today was the day. Wish me luck as I start begging my friends to let me ride their very expensive motorcycles. Actually, you should probably pray for all of them more than me.

Remind anyone you know that we are doing the raffle out at XL for the 2004 Harley V-Rod. The tickets are only $50 each and this bike is definitely worth it. And, your money goes to the great cause of “XL Gives Back” when we will be helping a family in need with their house this fall.

There you go. That’s pretty much the day.

What an Honor!

So, today I was reminded of how much of an honor it is to be a Pastor. At West Rome this morning, God showed up in a HUGE way. From the first words of the first song that our Worship Team lead us in, God was ALL over our time together. One of the most exciting things in the world to see happen as a Pastor is when your people truly get what you are teaching them. We have been doing a series on “God’s Amazing Grace” over the past few weeks. Listening to our church worship this morning, it is very obvious that they are truly getting a grip on God’s grace. Their spirit is beyond anything that I have ever seen. Our Worship Ministry is totally on every week and it is so real to them. You can just see it. You can tell that they believe everything that they sing. It is truly the best church in the world to be a part of. I was standing on the front row this morning just being amazed that God has called me to lead these people forward. God blew my mind and He continues to do so. I am so thankful for where my family gets to worship each week and all the cool stuff that I know God has planned for the future.

Then, tonight we get to go to XL. For the second week in a row we set a record for the largest attendance on any summer Sunday night. We had tons of new people and I have already heard about how God used the message to touch someone’s heart. That makes it all worth it. We had a great night with all kinds of four wheel vehicles stuck in the ditch out front and a huge rock climber on stage. The drummer was actually inside a tent on stage. XL has got to be the craziest most exciting thing I’ve ever been a part of and it rocked tonight. We had a whole new set and the set team did an awesome job!!! And, just to make sure we plug them: Ian Trapp played for us tonight and they rocked our faces off. Those guys are really great and if you have a chance to go see them somewhere, get there. They rock!!!

Well, that’s about it for today. God is awesome and I’m thankful to be a part of what He’s doing around here.
