My Wife Rocks!

Posted on October 18, 2008 | Filed Under Family

Tiffany left town for the weekend to go to Mississippi to see Analisa with some friends. I was glad that she got to go because it knew it would be great for her to get out for a while with friends and just have a good time. For me, this meant that I would be with the children without her from Thursday to Saturday night. One of the major issues was that I had a wedding this weekend which meant I would have a rehearsal dinner on Friday night and the wedding on Saturday. Then, as the weekend went on, things just kept getting added to the schedule. We had a birthday that I had not remembered since Tiff was out of town and a bike ride where I needed to go pray. It was quite the amazingly busy day. Now, as I sit here with everyone pretty quiet, just about asleep, I am reminded of just how awesome my wife is. I go away two or three times a year and leave her with them for two or three days at a time, and she always handles it. Sometimes she even tells me to take time away so that I can study and prepare for future series. She’s just amazing. I am very thankful for her and the love that she has for me and our children. Well, she’s home now, so I’m out. I just thank God for my great wife!!!

Taylor’s Birthday

Posted on August 27, 2008 | Filed Under Family

Wow, I have an 8 yr old. I gotta tell ya, it’s amazing what God has already taught be through her in these 8 fast years. It’s true: Taylor turned 8 years old today. The sad part is that I’m not there. I had a chance to get away and study and plan for a couple of days and this is one of them. I’m sure that will cost me some ice cream when I get home. Now, about Taylor. She is tall for an 8 year old and we have great plans of her being on the USA Women’s Volleyball Team, after a few years of being the star at Texas A&M. I hope my goals aren’t too specific… Anyway, she is a beautiful young lady with a heart of gold. She loves people and loves to help others when she gets a chance. She makes friends very easily and has tons of them. She does a great job in school, even though she doesn’t always love to go. She is very smart and funny. That’s good because her Dad’s just funny, and only sometimes that.

The best thing about Taylor is that she has already given her heart over to Jesus Christ and tries to live for Him everyday. There is nothing, not even the Olympics, that will ever make me more proud of her than that. Her sister Jordan has also given her life to Jesus, but it’s not her birthday. She’ll get her own blog later.

So, for Taylor, if you’re reading this just know that Daddy loves you like crazy and he could not be more proud of who you are and what you’re becoming everyday. I hope you’ve had the happiest birthday ever in the world and I’m looking so forward to getting home to see you tomorrow. Now, be nice to Mommy and go to bed on time. HAHA!!

I love you Taylor. You make a Daddy proud!

Party Update

Posted on August 24, 2008 | Filed Under Family, Pointless Rambling, Uncategorized

Before I do the Sunday night report, I have to start with the birthday party update. I will say this right from the beginning, we will never be doing that again! Not that we don’t love all the children, we just don’t need ALL the children staying over at one time. I knew we were going to have a problem when I was in the garage digging through the trash for one girls glasses. Wow, what a beautiful thing that was. But, when you put 10 3rd grade girls together for about 12 hours, you know they can’t all get along. You can’t put 2 girls together for that long and have them get along, much less 10. So, all in all, the house is sill in one piece. although my recliner may have a little trouble, and everyone seems to have made it out alive. I’m just saying, if you want to have a sleepover party, limit it to about two friends. Not ALL of the friends.

One of my favorite conversations of the night went like this:
Christina Floyd: Mr. Jarrod, I’m hot.
Jarrod: Ok, what do you want me to do?
Christina: Well, make it colder.

You gotta love’em!

But, Taylor had fun and that’s all that matters really, right? There ya go.

A Cheetah Girls Birthday Party

Posted on August 22, 2008 | Filed Under Family, Pointless Rambling

Well, here we go. I’m sure I’ll need to be posting some interesting happenings on the blog tomorrow, but tonight is the big night. Taylor is turing 8 years old next week and tonight is the big time “sleepover” birthday party. I’m pretty sure Tiffany has been running around like crazy trying to get ready for this big blow out. I don’t know how many loud, energetic, wild and crazy, little girls there will be at my house tonight. But I know that’s too many! Any of you guys out there doing any “manly” stuff tonight? I might need to come over for a while.

So, for Taylor, she’s awesome and I’ll be blogging about her on her actual birthday next week. But, for tonight, I’ll keep the camera ready for any opportunity to make some cash. You have fun tonight, wherever you are. You know I will!!!

Motorcycle License

Posted on July 25, 2008 | Filed Under Family, Pointless Rambling

Wow!!! I finally went to the license office today to take the riding part of the motorcycle test. The scary part is that I passed. I would be careful with those riders out there. Some of them might not be able to ride so well. I’m just sayin… I will say that I think I just BARELY passed the test and probably just because the lady doing the test was so nice. When you hear things like, “I trust that you’ll get better at that over time” and “you have one more test and you don’t have many points to play with” you know you experiences the grace factor!! And, trust me, I’m ALL about the grace factor.

Anyway, most of my friends and family are probably really worried about this news because they believe that, if I did get a motorcycle, I’d be dead within a week. All I know is that would be one FAST week, that’s all I’m sayin.

Anway, I don’t have a motorcycle, and really don’t have the money to go buy one, but I have always wanted to get the license and today was the day. Wish me luck as I start begging my friends to let me ride their very expensive motorcycles. Actually, you should probably pray for all of them more than me.

Remind anyone you know that we are doing the raffle out at XL for the 2004 Harley V-Rod. The tickets are only $50 each and this bike is definitely worth it. And, your money goes to the great cause of “XL Gives Back” when we will be helping a family in need with their house this fall.

There you go. That’s pretty much the day.
